Abstract:In Chinese history, famous gardens were often usurped and seized by powerful ones, and garden ownerships were decided by powers instead of the due builders or successors. The fate of famous gardens often grabbed by others had great impact on the life experience and aesthetic psychology of later generation scholars. First, for the similarity between garden and beautiful girls, a lot of writings comparing garden with beauties appeared. Second, under the fact that many famous gardens were often grabbed by others, the owners and on-looking literati would no longer rack their brains in garden creation or take the fantasy of inheriting by decedents, and instead took a broad-minded attitude to build gardens and look upon the rise and fall of gardens. And there emerged opinions and actions of creating gardens not for luxury, not for large scale, or better to have no gardens.
